Why this site exists
Search for tours here and you get the same drone footage and the same sentence about a natural wonder. What you rarely get is the ticket price for the boats, which are sold by the family operation at the lagoon rather than by any booking platform, or the fact that those boats stop running from about December to April.
So the practical parts live in one place: 7,100 ISK for the amphibian and 16,600 ISK for the Zodiac, ISK 1,000 for the car park until midnight, which glacier tours meet at the lagoon rather than at a Reykjavík hotel, and what happens to your ice cave booking after two days of rain.
How we choose the tours
We do not list everything with Jökulsárlón in the title. A tour appears here when it meets all of this:
- A licensed operator with enough verified reviews for the rating to carry weight
- A rating of 4.5 or better across those reviews
- Inclusions written plainly, including whether parking, boots and the boat ride are covered
- Free cancellation, so a bad forecast the night before does not cost you the money
- Something the others do not offer: a smaller group, a different season, a route away from the coaches
What we do not sell
The amphibian and Zodiac tickets earn us nothing. They belong to the operator at the lagoon and we send you straight to them, because listing a coach tour instead would be worse advice at twice the price.
We are not a tour operator, we take no payments, and we cannot change or cancel a booking for you.
How we keep it current
Tour prices here were read from the operators' own GetYourGuide and Viator listings on 5 August 2026. Boat prices and café hours came from the lagoon operator the same day, and Icelandic króna figures are converted at 122.73 ISK to the dollar.
Ice cave season, road closures and the glacier front all move. When they move, this page moves with them.
How we make money
The site is free to read. Book through a link here and the booking platform pays a commission at no extra cost to you. It never changes your price and it never sets the order tours appear in.
About the author
Lives 80 km east of the lagoon and has driven that stretch of Route 1 in every month of the year, including the February mornings when the road shuts and half a tour group never arrives. Checks the boat prices at the hut and the parking fee at the machine each season, because both change quietly and no blog post updates itself.
